Real name: Kou Yamamoto. Artist name: nouseskou. Born from Kyoto underground hip hop culture. Founder of the dance team nouses, blending street dance and contemporary art. He creates his own sound works using methods of Musique concrete and has established a unique dance genre he calls concrete. He has performed in the finals of both world street dance and world contemporary dance championships, presented work in Switzerland and France, and collaborated with Shintaro Oue, Tomohiko Tsujimoto, Hiroaki Umeda, Shintaro Hirahara, Ruri Mito, and Mirai Moriyama. In recent years, inspired by TouchDesigner, he has developed works exploring the relationship between technology and the body. His practice draws strongly from the quiet presence in Kyoto nature and shrines, crossing dance, video, installation, and NFTs, expanding into collaborations with global brands and international art projects. Influence from the 1970s Japanese Mono-ha movement also underlies his work.
